Emida Adds Colombia to List of Operating Countries
FOOTHILL RANCH, California, June, 05, 2013 (Business Wire) – Emida, a leader in the global prepayment and value transfer market, has announced Colombia as its newest operating country. Emida has an existing Support and Development Center in Colombia dedicated to providing service to different geographies within Emida”s network. Its new operations began in Q3 of 2013.
Utilizing the direct-to-merchant distribution model, Emida provides a number of services including direct top-up for carriers such as Claro, Movistar, Tigo, Uff, Une and ETB. Emida’s strategy provides its customers with a remote affiliation to operate through PC Terminals (Website) and/or through a cellular phone connected to the Internet (MobilePOS).
Operating in Colombia also allows Emida to expand its footprint while leveraging costs and business operations. This is Emida’s third execution of its direct business model following its success with similar models in the US and Mexico.
Shane Belovsky, CEO, said, “Through careful selection and research Emida has found that the Colombian market is characterized by well-educated people who understand electronic transactions. Emida is confident that it can succeed despite having different operating conditions and levels of competition. Operating in Colombia is sure to be an exciting and lucrative opportunity.”
The continued expansion into Latin America corresponds with Emida’s international growth strategies. Emida predicts this expansion will allow development of new products in Colombia, as well as create an opportunity for mobile wallet implementation in Latin America.
