Emida’s Newest Partnership: GBS and The Mint Corporation

FOOTHILL RANCH, California, October 24, 2012 (Business Wire) – Emida, a leader in the global prepayment, mobile payment and value transfer market, has announced an expanded partnership with Global Business Services (GBS) and The Mint Corporation (Mint).

Mint is the largest non-bank provider of alternative financial payment products in the Middle East and is also listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The company recently acquired its electronic payments division e-pay from GBS, and formed a new subsidiary of Mint called Mint Electronic Payment Services LLC (MEPS) which offers a complete suite of electronic payment services through over 2000 retail agents to prepaid mobile subscribers in the United Arab Emirates.

MEPS aims to serve market needs with a range of innovative and easy-to-use payment products and has aggressive growth plans for the future of the business. MEPS also plans to expand and establish an extensive network of retail agents across the entire Middle East region.

GBS’ established presence in the MENA region through their TV broadcasting services will help MEPS secure new strategic partners to help launch Emida’s technology in an expanding market with value added services.

Emida’s CEO, Dennis Andrews said “Emida is proud to be selected as a major technology provider for GBS and Mint. This region will become a major growth area for Emida. The relationship with GBS and Mint will open up exciting new products and opportunities for us across the prepaid and mobile payments industry. As their technology partner, Emida will support and share the goals of GBS and Mint.”

Mint’s acquisition of e-pay provides Emida with access to Mint’s prepaid card portfolio of over 400,000 payroll cards. As a result of this partnership, cardholders will now receive access to immediate prepaid recharge, access to the retail network, cross border top-up, money remittances, bill payments and other value-added services.

Mint shareholder and GBS Executive Abdul Razzak Abdulla said, “I am eager to witness the expansion of our merchant network as a direct result of the partnership. Introducing new services and technologies will help MEPS gain access to a wider market in new and innovative ways. We are certain that this will have a positive impact on our distributors and customers and will undoubtedly help make our future goals a reality.”
