Emida Launches Java and Android Payment Applications
FOOTHILL RANCH, California, February 9, 2011 (Business Wire) – Emida Technologies, a global leader in mobile prepaid solutions, today announces the release of its Android and Java mobile applications for Emida’s Cash and Transact™ (CAT) Mobile Wallet platform. The Java and Android apps, together with Emida’s iPhone app released in 2010, enable consumers and agents to use CAT Mobile wallet on a variety of smart phones as well as very simple handsets more common in developing countries.
The new applications are being deployed initially in the US and Nigeria, where Emida operates real time top-up, PIN sales and CAT Mobile Wallet for our local partners. These new apps complement Emida’s existing POS, USSD and web services deployed in 37 countries for mobile top-up.
Mark Beckner, Emida’s CTO, in announcing the new apps for top up and CAT Mobile Wallet, said “These apps will enable sales agents and consumers to transact more securely. In the Americas smartphones have taken off, and we expect to see the same trend in developing markets where the need for safe, secure technology is pressing. Often mobile handsets are the only communication devices that can support electronic commerce in these markets.”
CAT Mobile Wallet is an enterprise grade software platform suitable for large mobile operator networks, micro finance institutions, banks and other financial services providers. CAT uses some of the highest levels of encryption available, and allows service providers to comply with Know Your Customer [KYC] and Anti Money Laundering [AML] requirements of the regulators. The reporting features of Emida’s Real Time prepaid top-up and CAT Mobile Wallet engines enable service providers and regulators to monitor activity in real time, and ensure that compliance and liquidity issues can be addressed easily.
