Miami, March 3, 2004 – EMIDA, a provider of transactional networks for electronic prepaid distribution, store value and money transfer targeting the Global Hispanic market and PEI, Prepago Electronico Internacional, a Guatemalan-based business group, with interest in banking, technology and manufacturing launch the PUNTOflex Network in Central America.
Last year the companies signed a strategic agreement to jointly deploy and operate PUNTOflex, the growing transactional network in the region, starting in Guatemala.
David Brillembourg, CEO of EMIDA said “PEI has the right business relationships in Central America as well as the market knowledge to expand EMIDA’s PUNTOflex Network in Central America.”
PUNTOflex initially hooked service provider Comcel (Millicom) and Telefonica, and soon will be integrating services from PCS (Telmex) to be offered through PUNTOflex’s convenient points of sales.
On the other hand, retailers in Guatemala have already started to realize the enormous benefits of PUNTOflex’s multi-product offering as well as solving a common problem experienced in prepaid services distribution: never running out-of-stock by having limitless product inventory.
“We already initiated negotiations with major retailers and convenience stores in Central America which are very interested in offering electronic prepaid service distribution and payment services at its points of sales”, commented Juan Carlos Botran, President of PEI.
The companies are focusing on strengthening operations in Guatemala and preparing to launch the network in El Salvador in the coming months.
